The Specials Hit Alexandra Palace
Last night The Specials finished their 2011 European tour with a spectacular performance at London's Alexandra Palace. The venue was packed with a 12,000 strong crowd; many of whom were kitted out in original Rudeboy dress, with pork pie hats and Perry shirts in abundance. After projecting a montage of headlines from the late 70s onto the stage, the band opened with their debut single Gangsters, sending the crowd into a frenzy of excitement as they danced and joined in with the lyrics.
Continuing with a semi-chronological set packed with the band's greatest hits including A Message to You, Rudy, Too Much Too Young and Ghost Town; fans were treated to an energetic performance and the perfect finale to the tour. To celebrate the show, Fred Perry hosted exclusive pre and post show parties with DJ's including Felix Hall setting the mood with a medley of Ska, Reggae and Punk.
