2012 sees Fred Perry celebrate 60 years as an icon of street fashion, with a series of special events and limited edition items being launched throughout the year. Formed in 1952 by the British tennis legend and table tennis champion of the same name; Fred Perry has crossed over from a purely sporting heritage, sharing a unique relationship with British subcultures that continues to be relevant today. The past 60 years has built on this unique sports and streetwear history, forming one of the most enduring and affectionate relationships between youth culture and a brand.
Our 60 year activity begins with six limited edition Fred Perry shirts, inspired by archive pieces and created using colour references taken directly from the original 1950s catalogue. Made in England, the Authentic ’52-‘12 twin tipped shirts feature specially designed Laurel Wreath branding, commemorating our founding and anniversary dates.

We're delighted to announce an exciting new collaboration with Olympian and cycling legend Bradley Wiggins. Bradley has long been a fan of Fred Perry, and as a self-confessed mod enthusiast he makes a perfect fit for the brand. Speaking of the new collaboration, Bradley has said:
“It’s a partnership I could only have dreamed of...I have been a lifelong fan of the brand, stemming from my following and commitment to the mod movement and what I believe is Fred Perry’s unparalleled relationship with subculture."
“My goal has been to develop an authentic, non technical range of off cycle wear that is inspired by the best of the sport’s unique heritage – something I am hugely passionate about. Fred Perry offered me that opportunity.I’ll never forget the buzz when I first heard that Fred Perry were interested in working with me and since we’ve started work it’s clear that I’m going to have the chance to execute many of my and collaborate on some great ranges in the coming seasons."
Cycling jerseys have been standard mod-attire since the early 1960’s, and Bradley's collection will be inspired by this unique relationship between the sport and Subculture. Initially, the collaboration will launch in early summer with one cotton pique, zip neck shirt style in 3 colourways available through our worldwide shops and online at fredperry.com. The collection will expand to 8 pieces for an October 2012 delivery.

After the success of our intimate acoustic set by Fireworks back in October, our Brooklyn based Surplus Shop will play host to a second live music act in-store - this time Long Island rockers Bayside. The show will take place between 6-7pm on Thursday 29th March.
The band has enjoyed huge success in recent years, and were one of the first names to be confirmed for the 2012 Warped Tour. Bayside’s front man, Anthony Raneri, released his first solo EP New Cathedrals back in January, which rocketed into the top ten Best Alternative Albums within hours. Don't miss this great chance to see the band free in-store if you're in the area. The Fireworks set was a huge success, so get down early to claim a spot in the audience.
Our Surplus Shop is located at 306 Grand St, Brooklyn, NY. See a full list of opening times plus directions HERE
