Introducing Drake's of London

Fred Perry have teamed up with quality craftsmen Drake’s for a Autumn/Winter 2012 collaborative blank canvas.

Famed for their refined handcrafted accessories, Drake’s of London have been outfitting gentlemen since 1977. The company’s origins lie in the hand printing and production of men’s quality scarves. Today Drake’s are the largest independent producer of handmade ties in England. Their impressive factory and covetable fabric archive is based in the Old Street area of London.

The collaboration sees two classic British brands join forces to create a measured and sophisticated collection of Fred Perry pieces, complemented by Drake’s signature archive prints. Staying true to heritage, styles are experimental, but not radical. Drake's Managing Director Michael Hill captured the collaboration perfectly during our factory visit, as he enthused: 'it's about evolution of design, not revolution'.

Styles include the classic Fred Perry shirt and Bomber jacket, which both pay homage to Drake’s signature medallion print, whilst an enlivened archive paisley print brings statement to woven styles.
All over print patterns sit alongside more subtly detailed designs, with pattern applied to plackets, collars, linings and footwear; creating a distinctly British collection.

Athletics Blank Canvas 2012

Fred Perry celebrates a heritage built on sporting excellence with a unique Athletics blank canvas for summer 2012. Back in '52 the creation of our first cotton pique shirt was seen as a revolutionary move, adding a technical edge to the traditional tennis shirt whilst also allowing for maximum freedom and breathability on the court. 60 years on and Fred Perry have contemporised the pique shirt once more, creating four limited edition shirts with modern sports-tech detailing including panels of performance mesh, laser cut pockets, air vents and rubberised branding. The finished pieces are the perfect hybrid of traditional and technical details, adding a modernist edge to our unmistakable styling.

The Athletics Blank Canvas Collection is now available online, and in our Laurel Wreath Collection Shops. Visit our shopfinder HERE.

Fred Perry x 6876 Blank Canvas

Rounding off a fantastic year of blank canvas collaborations that has seen us team up with the likes of Sir Peter Blake, Stussy and Raf Simons; we're pleased to announce the launch of a new ten piece project with modernist brand 6876. Established in 1995, the design house shares our anti-establishment heritage, taking its name from the year of the ‘68 student protests in Paris and the birth of Punk in ’76.

6876 Notch Shirt

Founder Kenneth Mackenzie and his team have managed to consistently break free from a mainstream approach through carefully considered design details; such as subtle stitch detailing, fabrication, palette and the placement of newly developed dual branding.  Combining pieces inspired by the 6876 archive with re-worked Fred Perry shirts and knitwear, the collection creates a unique utility modernist look.

The Fred Perry x 6876 blank canvas pieces are available to buy from today at FredPerry.com and our Laurel Wreath Collection shops
