The Reading Museum & Town Hall is currently hosting the Reading Steady Go! exhibition, specially curated to showcase life through the eyes of a 60s Mod. Celebrating the explosion of youth culture and the birth of "the teenager", the exhibition features a bedroom scene, a mock cafe and a barbers all with original furniture, posters and artefacts from the year 1964.
Fred Perry have donated several original pieces including a white pique shirt, a zip through track top with pale blue and navy tipping, and a traditional cable knit sweater. Towards the end of the exhibition stands a re-created club scene with amazing articles such as Bryan Jones' suit and guitar, the microphone from The Flamingo night club and membership cards to original mod clubs such as The Scene.
The exhibition is taking place until the 9th October 2011. For further information, directions and opening times, please visit: http://www.readingmuseum.org.uk

The Fashion and Textile Museum presents the work of Justin de Villeneuve; a high profile photographer throughout the 60s and 70s who started his career as manager to model and Mod icon 'Twiggy' at the height of her career. Creating some of the most well-known images of the era, Justin shot the portrait of Twiggy and David Bowie in Paris that would later become the iconic cover to the artist's album 'Pin-Ups'.
