This month marks 20 years since the release of Nevermind by Nirvana - a record that many credit with changing the course of music history. When the album was first released, Nirvana were a critically acclaimed but still widely unknown band from Aberdeen, Washington, but by the time 1991 drew to a close the album was No. 1 the world over with over 30 million copies sold.

To celebrate this landmark occasion, London is hosting an abundance of band memorabilia and treasured artifacts at In Bloom: The Nirvana Nevermind Exhibition. The exhibition will run for two weeks only from Tuesday 13th September to Sunday 25th at The Loading Bay Gallery, at 91 Brick Lane. Highlights include a hoody worn by Kurt Cobain for a Meldoy Maker photoshoot and a replica of the Paramount Stage set up, as well as rare tour posters and fan memorabilia.
A multi-format reissue of the album will also be released on September 26th, with Deluxe and Super Deluxe editions available featuring dozens of rare and previously unreleased performances by the band. For those who really want to celebrate. The Shacklewell Arms will be holding a 20th Anniversary party on Saturday the 24th, complete with top Nirvana tribute band Melvana and Throwing Up; a band who we've previously mentioned on our Subculture site.
The 20th Anniversary reissue of Nevermind will be released under Universal on 26th September 2011.
