Tipped in the Press
This season we announced that pieces from our Laurel Wreath Collection would be given a clear definition by the inclusion of 30 leaf laurel embroidery in place of the traditional 16. Photographer George Harvey and stylist Mark McMahon have shot the following photos as part of the latest edition of i-D Magazine, sitting alongside writer Sarah Raphael's thoughts on this change.

We hope that the introduction of this new branding will make the Laurel Wreath Collection stand out as the cutting edge in Fred Perry style. You can read the full article at i-D Online HERE.

Amy Looks to the Classic Hawaiian Shirt
One of the key things that attracted us to Amy Winehouse as a collaborator is her appreciation of vintage fashion and in particular, her flair for the 1950s. Now, with Amy it’s never going to be a cutesy pastel tea dress – her interpretation of 50s style sits much more closely with the glamorous pin-ups and the rebellious teddy girls, brought bang up to date with a tattooed edge and tomboy styling. Amy's collections for Fred Perry have taken traditionally masculine styles such as the Fred Perry pique shirt and tailored shorts and given them siren appeal with deep 5-button necks and hotpant hemlines.

A key element to the Spring/Summer '11 collection is the Hawaiian print – exclusively developed and chosen by Amy for Fred Perry. Printed across body-skimming halterneck dresses, slim-fit shirts and slouchy accessories, the Hawaiian print was first introduced in the 1930s and was later picked up and popularised by stars such as Elvis, Frank Sinatra and Tom Selleck.
Whilst originally Hawaiian prints for women were reserved for dresses and skirts, the past few years have seen a resurgence of the Hawaiian shirt for both sexes; with girls tucking theirs into pencil skirts, tying up and teaming with hotpants and layering over leggings. Oversized florals and blown-up prints were seen all over the SS11 catwalks, so it seems Amy was not alone in her affections for these tropical prints.
