Earlier this week, we took a visit to new exhibition More Than Fair at London's RCA, featuring the work of the late British artist and musician Ian Dury. A student of Pop Art icon Sir Peter Blake, Ian studied at Walthamstow School of Art before joining the prestigious Royal College in 1963. The exhibition has been curated by Ian’s daughter Jemima Dury, former confederate Kosmo Vinyl and the one time Stiff Records art director, Jules Balme.
Featuring a selection of artwork from 1961 to 1972, the colourful exhibition showcases Ian's immersion in pop culture, referencing celebrities, singers and showgirls. The artist developed a friendship with tutor Peter Blake, who was so confident in his student's work that he would pass over projects from time to time. More Than Fair was made possible thanks to donations from the RCA, Ian's former band The Blockheads, the general public and many more. The exhibition will run until 1st September 2013.
